  The Camarillo Wings Association will host the WWII 325th Fighter Group “Checkertail Clan” during its 67th Annual Reunion at this year’s “Wings Over Camarillo” Air Show.The "Checkertails" are a legendary unit with more air victories and fewer losses than any other in the Mediterranean Theater of Operations. All three of their WWII aircraft; the P-40 Warhawk, the P-47 Thunderbolt and the P-51 Mustang will be making an appearance at this years "Wings Over Camarillo" Air Show.   The “Checkertail Clan” will join regional aviation volunteers from the Southern California Wing of the Commemorative Air Force, EAA Chapter 723 and the Ventura County 99s to support the “Wings Over Camarillo” air show at the Camarillo Airport August 18 & 19, 2012.  The Pacific Aviation Museum – Pearl Harbor will set up their ALOHA CHALET with flight-line box seats and lunch.   An expanded Air Show flight demonstration features many popular aerobatic routines with over 80 aircraft; including vintage planes, experimental, and WWII fighters, bombers and transports. Sadly, there was no train exhibit last year at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum, Yorba Linda, CA, and plenty of train enthusiasts were disappointed, especially those who had enjoyed the trains the previous two years. But this year the train exhibits have returned, bigger and better, thanks to the dedication of various model train clubs, including the Southern California LEGO© Train Club and Train Collector’s Association and Empire Railway Museum, Perris, California. This is a “must-see” holiday event for the entire family: A tradition to treasure. It’s hard to tell who is more thrilled by the 1,500 feet of track, 13” tall multi-layered landscapes with 14 trains running on six tracks – adults remembering their own toy trains as children or the children they have with them, experiencing the romance of trains as their fathers and grandfathers once did. The exhilarating displays call for repeat visits to fully appreciate the charm of the two rooms of trains. On my travels to Barcelona, Spain, I discovered a Nobel Prize worthy invention called Compeeds.   They're a band aids of a sort, but not your traditional kind that lasts twenty seconds, only to be found underneath your foot, in your shoe, while your heel suffers the first day of those new fabulous pair of shoes. Lets face it, most men, even those metrosexuals, really do not realize that girls do not wake up soft, shaven and smelling oh-so-pretty.   And if you think you are one of those women who do, stop lying to yourself.  You don't.  One week sans razor, a half way decent hair product  and some deodorant.... and you would be hanging out with a pint of ice cream on a Friday night in no time.
